When you cast a lure, it follows a somewhat parabolic curve. It's not a perfect parabola because of air resistance and the drag of the fishing line. When you have a fish on the line, it creates tensile forces in the line. Some lures float, while other sink, which demonstrates buoyancy. In strong currents you may have to switch to heavier lead sinkers in order to "hold the bottom." This demonstrates frictional forces. The heavier weight has greater friction with the bottom, so the force generated by the current bumping into it cannot generate enough force to move it. A lighter sinker would be moved by the force of the current. If a boat is trying to travel due East but is traveling in a current going due North, the actual path of the boat will be something between due East and due North. This demonstrates vector addition and shows how velocity is not just speed but direction, as well; in other words, velocity is a vector quantity.
