The one way to slow down and stop global warming is to reduce our emissions of carbon dioxide and move as quickly as possible towards a carbon-neutral economy. This means being more efficient in our use of electricity, while phasing out coal and oil fired electricity generators in favour of alternative energy sources. Similarly it means being more efficient in our use of oil for transport and finding as many replacement alternatives as possible.
Even the cessation of deforestation would help, as would the restoration of forests. Some look for opportunities to sequester carbon dioxide underground, but this is an unproven technology that might not be reliable in the long term.
What mankind should do to help Earth is, use less gases that contain Carbon dioxide, litter less on the sides of roads, and recycle so we don't need to have more landfills that take up places for animal kind to live and get their food.
Reducing and hopefully reversing human impact on global climate change has no single solution. It will require a large number of modest changes to the way humans produce and consume energy and food. Here are three such changes that would give an excellent return on investment:
1. Reduce energy consumption through adoption of existing technology currently opposed by entrenched business interests and/or radical environmetalists. e.g.: LED Lighting, Incandescent Bulb Phaseout, Nanotech Superconcuting Electrical Distribution, Diesel Cars, Clean Coal.
2. Shift focus of energy production investment to geothermal, tidal, hydro, wind and solar.
3. Enforce existing coal emissions regulations.

There have been many solutions suggested to combat global warming. Some solutions that have been suggested include lowering the emissions of greenhouse gases and planting more trees that can absorb the carbon dioxide to reduce global warming.

Global awareness of the dangers of global warming, and global awareness that solutions really are possible, will enable us all to make informed decisions to support efforts to reduce our carbon emissions and make the world a better place for our children and grandchildren.
