I've been looking at this for a while now and can't find much well researched conclusive evidence. My own personal view based on my own experience is that meditation seems to be one of the best things you can do. Offical health advice is more general, for example the NHS suggest six things: exercise, healthy diet, keep your brain active, sleep well, reduce stress and stay socially active.
