True indigo is a type of plant that was one of the original sources of indigo dye. As it is a legume, therefore it is rotated into fields to improve the soil similar to how other legumes are grown.
the main problem that they faced was that , they were forced to grow indigo and not food crops!! hence they became poor and even their fertility of the soil was lost... hence it was a very difficult situation for them and at last they resulted in massive revolts!!!
