The problems of teaching English literature in a high school are that, most students get easily distracted. As a student of English Literature, I say, the teacher should be more prepared and know what he/she is teaching, and not ramble about tv series such as Hollyoaks. Moreover, if the lesson is ill prepared, then you will find that your students will start to increasingly dislike you. You should not make them do all the annotating, seeing as they only have a vague idea of what is expected of them. You are the teacher, so act like one and guide your students. Spoon feed them if you have to, but at the end of the day, make sure they pass. You get paid for teaching them, that's your job, you shouldn't treat your lessons as a social club.

You should strictly adhere to a policy of being enthusiastic in all your lessons. That way students will also have a positive attitude towards your lessons and they will also try their foremost best to succeed in that subject.

In my opinion, English literature is fun. It just depends on the sort of person who is teaching the lesson...

Some problems in teaching English literature in high schools include limited time to cover a wide range of texts, difficulty engaging students who may not be interested in the subject, and challenges in balancing classic literature with more diverse and inclusive works. Additionally, assessing subjective interpretations of literary texts can be challenging.
