it is impossible to have a "perfect" deck but i have come pretty close.
a good example of a near perfect deck is yugi's deck towards the beginning of the series. he has a bunch of different cards.
so don't have a specialized deck [a deck that focouses around a certain type of card] while some specialized decks are really good (such as a elemental hero deck) they can easily be taken down by a deck designed to target that kind of deck.
have all kinds of cards, normal cards, effect cards, cards of all levels.
a near perfect deck can get you out of any situation, or help your situation if your winning, no matter what card you draw. don't have only a few cards that can help because sometimes 'the heart of the cards' just doesn't work

like i said no deck is perfect. even my deck has a weakness (its the water decks). but even if you never win against a certain kind of deck don't go all crazy and change your deck to be able to beat that one deck. remember a loss against one deck is better then a win against only one deck
another thing about bonding. find a card in your deck. treat it like it is your baby. this will help you in duels. if you get that card out you will hesitate to attack because of the risk of it being destroyed by a trap. this will force you to be on the safe side
