When you receive the wedding invitation there should be a small card in a small envelope with the address of the bride or groom's parents name or, in some cases either the bride to be or the groom to be. In the small card you tick off if you are coming and if you are bringing your girlfriend; wife or a guest. The envelope should have a stamp already on it and you just have to mail it out.
First, take a small metal spoon and (gently) tap the champagne flute with it to get people's attention. Raise a glass to the bride and groom as you begin your speech. Always insert a tasteful joke if you are talking about the bride, and a slightly irreverent one if talking about the groom. make it personal - insert incidents that you have shared with either the bride or the groom (tasteful incidents).
The cast of My Small Italian Shotgun Wedding - 2003 includes: Lucy Apoyan as Bride Jimbo as Groom Elena Mantovani as Mother Of The Bride Karl Moll as Priest Antonio Ungaro as Father Of The Bride
* At the wedding reception after the meal is served and approximately one hour after, the wedding cake will be cut by the bride and groom. The bride holds the knife and the groom's hand goes over hers and they make a small slice to feed each other a piece of the wedding cake before serving to their guest. Sometimes the bride and groom will have a little fun and push the cake all over the outside of each others mouths. Then the caterers came and cut the cake and either the bride and groom can serve the wedding cake or the caterers will do it if requested before the reception.
* Yes, the bride and groom can pay for their own wedding and the parents probably will give a sigh of relief. In these modern times sometimes there is just a single parent or parents who have come upon rough times and can't afford to give their daughter the wedding they would like and it's wonderful the bride and groom would pay for their own wedding to take the burden off their parents. Big, medium or small weddings are all wonderful and each one can still be a magical event for the bride and groom as well as the guests.
A Kitchen Tea is a small bridal shower that gives the bridesmaids and/or the families of the bride and groom a chance to have a more intimate shower for the bride. It is usually small, consisting of the bridesmaids, the bride and/or groom's immediate family, close friends of the bride and groom, or the whole wedding party. It is not normal for all groups to be included. The purpose of a kitchen tea is to give the bride small things that she may not have received at the main bridal shower. With this being said, treat your card just like a bridal shower card and offer the bride your heart felt congratulations and well wishes. There is no need for a long verse, but a short line of sincerity will be appreciated by the bride.
At Italian weddings, guests usually give cash gifts or presents that are from the bride and groom's wedding registry. For gifts that the bride and groom give, popular items are bombonierre such as mints or candies in a small bag, a framed picture of the couple, wine stoppers, a salt and pepper set and other small goodies that the guest will be able to use.
Wedding favors date back to England in the 16th century and began a a 'love knot' made from lace and ribbon. The love knot represented the couples bond. A wedding favor has evolved into small gift from the bride and groom to their guests. The purpose is to allow the bride and groom to show their gratitude.
A wedding favour is a small token or souvenir given to guests from the bride and groom. It often has the couple's initilals or wedding date on it. It serves as a reminder of the day.
If there is a Ring Bearer (generally a young male child) he will come down the aisle before the bridesmaid and stand by the bride and then she will take the groom's wedding band off the small silk pillow and put it on the groom's finger while saying her vows to him. If there is no Ring Bearer then it is the Maid of Honor that holds the groom's wedding band. The Best Man is the one who will hold the wedding band for the bride and give it to the groom when he is saying his vows to his wife-to-be.
Traditionally, it is the very top tier or the small piece of cake that help the cake topper that the bride and groom keep for memorie's sake.
