The council of Nicaea in 325 C.E. was a turning point in the early history of the Catholic church, which opened the dialogue that Jesus was equal to Almighty God, which led to the idea of a Trinity doctrine. Up to that time, it was generally agreed upon that the Father was the supreme one.
