Well besides having permanent scaring of the cheeks, there is the high possibility that the saliva ducts inside the cheek can be cut causing oral problems and saliva to escape out of the piercing and on to your cheek. This would require medical intervention to resolve, simply removing the jewellery will not fix it. There is also the possibility of hitting veins and nerve roots in the cheek.

Do you have to surgically remove back dimple piercings?

Microdermals should be surgically removed. Barbells can just be taken out, but they're horrible for surface piercings. But, back dimple piercings have a tendency to reject because of the friction and movement of that area. So, they may come out on their own or be pulled out before you decide that you want them removed.

How long do you keep dimple piercings in for?

I'm assuming you want the piercing to create dimples? Its pretty much impossible to give you definitive answer. Everyone heals differently. Some people form dimple-like scars, and others dont. Dimple piercings are notoriously difficult to heal during the first few months, so just be aware of that :)

Where can you pierce your dimples?

At a piercing studio/shop. Dimple piercings are notoriously tricky to heal so make sure that your piercer has experience doing cheek/dimple piercings. You can look for shops in your area using the Association of Professional Piercers' website. I'll add the link for you :)

Can you still get braces after you get your dimples pierced?

You will probably end up getting a lecture from the Orthodontist about how the dimple piercings could effect the saliva ducts inside your cheeks and the potential damage the piercings will cause to your teeth ( not to mention how the piercings will leave permanent scars on your face ). But once they have done that they can still do the braces, however they may make you remove the jewellery for your appointments. Unlike other oral piercings around the mouth (lip, labret, Monroe, Madonna, Medusa and tongue) next to nothing is known about dimple piercings other than the high probability of damaging saliva ducts, deep blood vessels and nerves. Most experienced professional body piercers stay away from dimple piercings due to the high risk factors. These risk factors should have been discussed in detail to you before you got the piercing done, if there was no discussion about the risks, then you clearly didn't see a professional body piercer. Your Orthodontist will provide more information to you about the facial structure and what other problems you may encounter in the future due to the piercings.

What hurts more dimple piercing or tongue piercing?

Varies from person to person. Dimple piercings take much longer to heal. They also produce a lot of hypertrophic scarring, which isn't very attractive.
