The Sequence battles are found in the throne room where you fought Krux on Malik. There are six different Sequence battles. Spectrobes can be switched after ten battles, twenty battles, thirty battles, and forty battles. The prize for winning a Squence battle is a geo. If completed again or already have geo, a new prize is awarded. You must first beat the available Sequence battle to unlock the next one.

In "Spectrobes 2: Beyond the Portals," you can find the Grillpod Fossil on the planet Kollin.
No, it is impossible for spectrobes to die in Spectrobes Origins or any other Spectrobes game
The number of battles differs between each of the portals. For instance, the sequence battle on Nessa Area 2 (the ONLY sequence battle you can do BEFORE you beat the final boss on Meido) includes 30 rounds. Your battle will continue until one of three things happens: 1. Your HP reaches 0 (note that you can still compete if all of your Spectrobes have been defeated, as long as Rallen still has at LEAST 1 HP left) 2. You choose to forfeit in between matches (this will NOT count as being defeated, so you wont lose any Gura) 3. You have completed the maximum number of rounds that has been preset Between matches, you will be allowed to switch your current Battle Spectrobes with any of your Support Spectrobes that are in your party (but NOT the Lab System) that still have at least 1 HP. You can use any ONE equipped item (any Serum, any Antidote, a Rescue, or a Revive). However, you must equip it BEFORE you start the first sequence battle, and if you use it in battle, you will NOT recover it after the battle, so choose wisely! You can use any level Glove, Sword, Blaster, and Suit that you ALREADY OWN. You CANNOT use a Geo during a sequence battle, even if you have it equipped. You CAN, however, use your Spectrobes' Special attacks and Combination attack. The battles are preset (meaning battle 1 in the Nessa Area 2 sequence battles will be the same every time you fight that specific battle). The battles WILL be different in each round (meaning battle 7 will most likely have different enemies then battle 22). Remember, if you're running low on HP and you still have a lot of rounds left, it's best to just forfeit, use your jet pack, heal, save, feed some minerals to/do some training with your strongest Spectrobes to level them up, then try again later. Or you could just go ahead and lose (but then you'll lose some of the Gura you've worked so hard to earn). Regardless, the portal will be right where you left it. If you beat all 30 Waves in the Nessa Area 2 sequence battles, you'll receive an Evolve Mineral, which automatically evolves any Child form Spectrobe into an Adult form Spectrobe, or any Adult for Spectrobe into an Evolved form Spectrobe. However, keep in mind that their Minergy bars will become a bit bigger, and any Minergy they'd earned to fill their bars before they evolved will go away, meaning you have start raising them to their next level all over again (that doesn't mean they go back to level one).
