It could kill you. Don't do it. It is a central nervous system depressent and has been linked to Diabetes. It is an excellent drug to treat schizophrenia and bipolor disorder, but should not be abused. See a psychologist to treat your addictions.
Only the people that take a high does everyday (so basically the people that are prescribed it) get diabetes due to weight gain which is one of its side effects. It is either because of over eating or because it slows down your metabolism, they don't really know.

Severe weight gain and drowsiness. I gained 10 lbs in one month taking 50mg 2 times a day.

Seroquel is a horrible drug. It dries up every part of you; no tears, no nasal mucus, gross inability to move bowels. It makes you very sleepy anytime during the day. If it's supposed to be a sleeping pill it should not be taken during the day at all. It also makes you fat and you can't lose the weight.

FROM MY EXPERIENCE: I'm 19, began Seroquel for bipolar disorder at least 2 years ago. Seroquel has made a huge difference in my life, yes it makes you groggy but it depends on when you take it, the dose, and how long you've been taking it. I take 600mg every night (along with some other meds) an hour or so before bed. The only complaints I have ever had were sleepiness for the first 4 to 5 days of a new dose and some minor muscle twitching. Weight gain is a side effect with many antidepressant/antipsychotic drugs, I'm losing weight just fine while taking my meds. And Seroquel IS NOT a sleeping pill, it's used to keep a person calm or relaxed not to take before bed to sleep. One 600mg at night lasts me all day. So to say that Seroquel is a horrible drug and to assume all of the side effects are present with everyone is a biased thing to say. Every person is different, every dose is different. You shouldn't let a few side effects scare you away from a medication that could help you tremendously. If it's not working then ask your doctor to take you off of it. You won't know until you try.

Can Seroquel cause schizophrenia?

Seroquel cannot cause schizophrenia. It is designed to treat schizophrenia. It is a common psychotic delusion to believe that an anti-psychotic such as Seroquel causes, rather than treats a psychotic disorder. This is because Seroquel, and all drugs of the anti-psychotic class used in the treatment of severe psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, cause uncomfortable side effects when initially administered. A schizophrenic who resists treatment will identify those side effect symptoms as the disorder through the process of rationalization.

Will seroquel make you forgetful?

The medication Seroquel is used to treat bipolar disorder and depression and can cause dizziness, tiredness, and sleepiness. Confusion and memory loss is not a common side effect of the medication.

Does Seroquel cause Flushing and Hot Flashes?

I can't say that it *causes* flushing and/or hot flashes. I *can* say that the detailed prescribing information (found on www.seroquel.com by clicking on "SEROQUEL prescribing information"), on page 38 under the Cardiovascular System, notes that vasodilatation is is an infrequent side effect. I am not a doctor or nurse, I am, however, taking Seroquel. I have a problem with flushing, even while not on medication. I don't know if it's just me imagining things, but it seems like the flushing has been exaggerated since taking the Seroquel. I'd also like to know if anyone has noticed flushing, or an increase in flushing, while taking Seroquel. I had really bad hot flashes and chills while taking seroquel. I had a bunch of tests ran on me, the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong. But 5 days after stopping Seroquel, the hot flashes stopped.
