(A change of atleast 5% of body weight in a month) An increase or decrease in appetite nearly every day. * Indecisiveness or diminished ability to think and concentrate nearly every day. * Recurrent suicide ideation without specific plans, recurrent thoughts of death, plans of suicide or suicide attempts. And periods of mania which includes symptoms such as:
* Increased energy, social and sexual activity. * Decreased need for sleep. * Inflated self-esteem and delusions of grandeur. * Hallucinations. * Distractibility. * Irritability. * Rapid speech - more talkative than usual or an increased pressure to keep talking. * Reckless decisions and actions. The symptoms will not be due to direction physiological effects of substances. The symptoms will be long lasting and recurrent, the fluctuation to a depressive state will not be due to bereavements such as the loss of a loved one. The symptoms must also be seen to be an impairment of that person's normal life before they are diagnosed with Bipolar disorder.
