He askes you to open the case by where your standing inside there are 3 pokeballs. in 1 is Torchic, a fire type Pokemon, in another is Mudkip, a water type Pokemon, and in the last is Treeko a grass type Pokemon. You use the one to defeat the wild Pokemon chasing professor birtch and after you go back to his lab he gives you the one you used.
