During interphase, the cell grows and copies its chromosomes in preparation for cell division. There are three parts of interphase:
The G1 phase involves the growth of the cell.
The S phase is where chromosomes are copied.
In G2 phase, two centrosomes have formed. The cell finishes up its preparatory actions and continues to grow.
There are three known steps that occur during the interphase. These steps include the gap 1, which occurs immediately after mitosis, the synthesis, and the gap 2, which is the continual growth of the cells.
