I'm not actually a violin player, but i am pretty sure this is how it goes. (I'm going from the thicker, lower sounding strings to the skinny high strings. So basically left to right.)
GABC, next string, DEFG, next, ABCD, last EFGA. Which ones you REALLY want to remember are the open string notes, G D A E.
