ignition control module
both the 3100 and 3800 series engines have the ignition control module mounted under the coil packs. remove the coil packs and there it is.
The module is located underneath the coil packs.
The ignition control module is located on the left side of the engine, it is what the coil packs are attached to. If you remove both coil packs and unplug the two connections it will come right off.
UNDER THE COIL PACKS
The ignition control module is located directly beneath the coil packs. These can be found at the rear of the engine, on the top center. Just look for where all the spark plug wires connect, those are the coil packs, and they are bolted to the ignition control module. It has three electrical connectors, two on the driver's side and one on the passenger's side.

Not knowing what module, the ignition control module is behind the coil packs. 3 bolts hold all together against block, under the intake lower to mid center U
the contol module is located under the coil packs .The entire assy.is on the right side of the engine (front of vehcle) under the exhaust manifold it's pretty tricky to get to. The entire assy. must be removed. It's fastened to the block with 3- 13mm bolts remove the assy remove the coil packs the module is under them be carefull not to bend the pins that plug into the coil packs. good luck!
follow the spark plug wires to the front of the engine where they connect to the coil packs, remove the coil packs by removing the screws on top and on bottom of each and the I.C.M. is the plate that comes off with the coil packs. the screws should be a 5.5 or 6 m.m.
no it has a distributorless ignition system. it cosists off two coil packs and the ignition control module that sits under them
