The Book of Amos is perhaps the best known of the 'Minor Prophets.' The primary theme of the book is 'justice. God created we humans to enjoy good relations with one another, thereby having good relations with God who is the loving Creator of all mankind. Injustice on the other hand, only leads to alienation from each other and God Himself.
This book, like most prophetic writings, has an immediate message for Israel in the time of King Jeroboam's pagan temple, before the soon coming Assyrian invasion and captivity. But it is also an end-time prophecy for us just ahead as many read Amos 9:11-15 to say.
Perhaps the most important thing to glean from this book is :
Amos 3:7New International Version (NIV)7 Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing
without revealing his plan
to his servants the prophets.
All of we humans are without excuse as to the events that lie ahead for us all.
