First thing I look for is the breeding environment. Are the animals being socialized with humans? Is the pen area clean and do the pups seem healthy? Then, if I'm going to choose a pup, I generally choose the runt of the litter. Why? Because they seem to be the most loyal, simply because you've rescued them from a situation where they might not survive (that's not as much as an issue now days, but the runts do seem to be more greatful and loving). If that doesn't matter, then I'd let the pup choose you. My last one kept coming up and poking me in the foot with his nose while the others didn't seem to even recognize I was there. Narurally, I picked that pup and never regretted one second of having him. (Unfortunately, he just passed away from lymphoma (cancer) just before he reached 8 years old.) Just remember, you're making a commitment to the pup and he'she will make one to you, too. It's for life, folks, so treat 'em like they're part of the family and you'll be rewarded in more ways than I can mention.
I own 4 dogs one is a service dog in training and 2 of my dogs are labrador retreviers (labs) wich are a very close breed to glolden retreivers. I know alot about dogs and there for I have a few words of advice for you:
1. these are very intelligent animals and enjoy traing and pleasing there masters proven studies show that dogs with traing are closer with there master and are better house pets.
2. This is the most important one! they are indor dogs! they DO NOT enjoy being outdor dog away from there people! that is punishing them they destroy things if you leave them outside when they know your home.
3. I recomend that you leave them out side or in a kennal or crate when you are gone they get mad that you left them and will chew things.
There are lots of things to look for when buying a puppy.
Make sure the puppy is healthy and comes from a good home
always see the mother of your puppy
Is there someone in the house all day long? your puppy shouldn't stay in alone for more than four hours
TOILET TRAINING
Buy a bed/beds toys bowls and coller/lead so that when your puppy comes home for the first time he/she is comfortable
Bring in the car on the way to get your puppy some kind of box and also towels incase it does the toilets
Before you leave your house have some newspapers on the floor so you can clean up the pee and poo easier
Hope I helped :)
Careful consideration should be given to what breed of dog you wish to own prior to your purchase of one. If several breeds are attractive to you, and you are undecided which you prefer, learn all you can about characteristics of each before making your decision.
Get one that has a good personality. Somewhere in the middle of hyper and quiet. You should also look at the parents to see what they were like, or look at their medical history. I guess that goes for all dogs. But I know Labradors like to chew on everything, so I don't know how one would determine how much a dog likes to chew furniture, but if there is a way... I recommend you look into it xD
German Shepherds should be robust, agile and strong, with a thick and healthy coat and no weakness in the hind legs. When looking for a healthy puppy, it is always important to go to a reputable breeder and be sure to see the parents. If the parents aren't of good quality, neither will the puppies be. If you cannot see the puppies mother, then do not buy the puppies. Before buying a puppy, check that both parents have had all of the relevant screening for inherited disease and have had their hips and elbows scored to check for any signs of dysplasia. Hip dysplasia has been devastatingly prevalent in the German Shepherd breed in recent years so be sure you are buying from healthy stock. A sure fire way of getting a good quality and sound puppy from a reputable breeder is to go to a Kennel Club Accredited Breeder. Accredited Breeders homes and breeding facilities are routinely checked for good standards by the Kennel Club and their stock will have been checked for inherited disease. Go to the Kennel Club website for more information on the Accredited Breeder Scheme and help on finding a healthy German Shepherd puppy.
Before you take on a dog, consider what type suits you best. For example, a terrier will have a different temperament from a herding breed, and a guarding breed will be different from a toy breed. There are many books and magazines devoted to giving information on breed differences, so conduct your research carefully and in depth before comitting. There are also breed rescue societies, dedicated to particular breeds, and websites giving good information on dogs.
Nesting. She usually looks for a place to have them, like in a closet. You can help her by putting towels and stuff where she wants to be so she feels everything is ready so she gets calmer.
You should look for a healthy puppy, a shiny coat, a wet nose, also asking the breeder to see if the puppies have been to the vet or if they have any problems.
She should be becoming more watchful and looking around for somewhere to have her pups. She may also become more affectionate towards you but not have her tummy touched.
Wolf pups weigh only 1 lb at birth.
You should consult your veterinarian. Breeding females can pass parasites to their pups both in the womb and through milk, so deworming the female is extremely important. Most of the commonly used dewormers on the market in the US for dogs can be used in pregnant and nursing animals, but the specific times to deworm to prevent infection of pups before and right after birth should be discussed with your veterinarian as the recommendations are different for the different deworming drugs.
I am a breeder of Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, Poodles & Dachshunds. I handle my pups from birth.
Pups should leave their mother no earlier than 8 weeks. This is for the health and well being of the pups. Pups who leave their mother's and family's before 8 weeks have a higher rate of illness.
The pups are usually born in summer. Normally the female wolf can have 5-6 pups.
A she-wlf will usually give birth to a litter of 2-7 pups.
They intend to give birth to 5-15 pups.
Bull sharks give birth to live babies called pups. Their gestation period is about 1 year and they can give birth to between 1-13 pups in one litter.
After the Dog gives birth and will be nursing pups, you should provide a diet rich in Protein, vitamins, and calcium. Talk to your Vet for particulars.
