Trident Gum was not named for Poseidon's Trident. The original Trident gum was made to contain three enzymes which were thought to soften dental tartar, so the name Trident comes from three enzymes (Tri) to promote dental health (dent).

Unfortunately, Trident isn't really a trace back to Poseidon at all. Trident was named Trident because of the three key enzymes within the formula that help break down dental tartar. Tri being three and dentes meaning teeth, has actually nothing really to do with the gum at all. But was probably named in the thought of "Look! Three dental enzymes! Huzzah! Let's name it that."The only relation it has to Poseidon is the name. Nothin' more.
