The three temptations are as follows
1 Change the stone to bread.
2 to fall from the cliff and that angels would protect him.
3 After showing the whole country from a high point the devil says to Jesus he can have the land and all the riches only if he falls and worships the devil.
The third one mentioned in Matthew is the temptation to gain power by paying the devil homage. The other gospels do not list them in any particular order of chronology.
Matthew 4:
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
The three temptations of Jesus are:
1. To make stones into loaves of bread.
2. Worship the devil to give him all the kingdoms of the world's glory and authority.
3. Throw him from the pinnacle of the temple.
The second temptation Jesus faced in the desert is written in Matthew 4:5-7. In the New International Version, it reads: "Then the devil took Him to the holy city and had Him stand on the highest point of the temple. 'If You are the Son of God,' he said, 'throw Yourself down. For it is written: "He will command His angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.*"'
Jesus answered him, 'It is also written: "Do not put the Lord your God to the test.**"'"
*Psalm 91:11-12
**Deuteronomy 6:16
The temptation of Christ is recorded in The Bible in the books of Matthew, Mark and Luke. After Jesus had been baptised, he then fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. During Jesus' fasting The Devil (Satan) came up to him to tempt him.
