The New Testament Scripture neither names nor numbers the visiting Wise Men (Magi). This is a tradition of mankind.
Another thing that is NOT found in the Christian Bible is that it does not specifically say there were THREE wise men. It only states they gave three gifts. Go back and read the verses.
I prefer the interpretation that several wise men traveled in a caravan with many attendants and camels. If these men were the intellectuals of their country, they would have some escorts.
BTW, another misrepresentation of the birth of Jesus is that Joseph and Mary returned to Bethlehem with Mary riding on a donkey. The Bible doesn't say that either. It's not in there. If I had a very pregnant wife and I was a carpenter, I would be sure she rode on a cart.
