No, on their own computers can not solve the problems of humanity, only humans can do that. However, computers are powerful tools that can be used to model various aspect of the real world. If human have managed to to get these model correct then computers are now fast enough to calculate what these models will predict in the future. Armed with these predictions humans may be capable of making choices that help to solve human problems.
Diligent study for a number of years has given me the tools I need to solve most math problems I encounter.

The use of knowledge tools and materials to solve problems and accomplish tasks refers to applying resources such as information, technology, or equipment in a strategic manner to address challenges efficiently and effectively. This approach involves leveraging available resources to streamline processes, enhance decision-making, and achieve desired outcomes in a more structured and systematic way.
It enabled geometric information to be converted into algebraic form. This meant that the tools of algebra could be applied to solve geometric problems and the tools of geometry to algebraic problems. That greatly increased the ability of mathematicians to solve problems.
Geographic tools solve problems by helping us find lost ships or missing people. They help us locate the tornadoes coming our way, the armies, ours and theirs. Or less major problems like where a storm is heading for weather, etc.
You can use the Excel plugin 'Solver' tp to solve transportation problems which will then be available under Tools menu in Excel
Matrices are tools to solve linear equations. Engineers use matrices in solving electrical problems in circuits using Thevenin's and Norton's theories.
