Cloves, lemon juice and rind, liqueur wine, pears and sugar are the traditional ingredients in Albania's pear compote.
Specifically, the Pears are peeled, cored and sliced. They then are allowed to sit in cold water to which lemon juice previously has been added, for twenty (20) minutes. In the meantime, the peelings are allowed to simmer for ten (10) minutes in water to which nothing has been added. The liquid is filtered, sugar is added, and the resulting syrup is poured over the sliced pears.
The dish is chilled and served cold after having liqueur wine stirred in and being seasoned with cloves.
