Toasters and incandescent (old fashioned) light bulbs are very similar devices.
Both of them use electric current passing through a wire to make the wire emit
heat and light. In the light bulb, we use the light, and the heat is a nuisance.
In the toaster, we use the heat, and we don't much care about the light.
