A CMOS jumper is a small connector on a computer's motherboard that allows users to reset the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) memory, which stores BIOS settings, including system clock and hardware configuration. By changing the position of the jumper, users can clear the CMOS settings, often used for troubleshooting or when a password is forgotten. Typically, the jumper consists of three pins, with the default configuration connecting two of the pins, and moving the jumper to connect the other pin temporarily resets the stored settings. After resetting, the jumper is returned to its original position to restore normal operation.
BIOS (basic input output system) is the menu system programmed into the firmware of your motherboard which allows you to change its settings and input some basic hardware information. CMOS (copper metal oxide semiconductor) is a type of battery. It is the type of battery most commonly used on motherboards to power the circuit which remembers the BIOS settings and system time. Without a CMOS battery, this data will be lost every time the system is powered off. In common nomenclature, these two phrases are often used interchangeably. Some people will refer to the BIOS menu as the CMOS menu, and will refer to the CMOS battery as the BIOS battery.

Two examples are resetting the BIOS to the default settings and swapping between two different BIOS chips for boards with multiple BIOS.
Actually, I am a husband. But, I can think of two probable explanations. One might be that some of the apparently endless list of settings and preferences in Outlook have somehow changed, or have been changed. The second would be that the husband is a stinker who was, in fact, the root cause of the Outlook settings and/or preferences being changed.
