The two main seasons are "The Wet Season" from about October to April and "The Dry Season" from about April/May to September/October.

There are two mini-seasons that separate these, "The Build-Up" and "Knock-em-down" seasons.

The Build-up usually occurs a month or a few weeks just prior to the actual Wet season entering into its' full monsoon condition. This is when temperature and humidity are at their most uncomfortable. Also known as Mango Season, Troppo Season, Stinger Season and some other less defined names.

The Knock-em-down season is the tail end of the Wet season where the monsoon trough has all but dissipated. Short violent storms with wind gusts over 100KMPH are regular and flatten the tall 3 metre (10') high grasses, hence the local terminology Knock-em-downs.
