Most of the Legacy application uses the Systems developed by Independent Software Vendors which the companies pay up a lump of amount annually for system maintenance and license renewal. Such ISV (independent software Vendors) does not get a full hand support from the other third party tool Developers which feels the platform as moving towards a Sunset. This condition has fully worsened the problems of application developer in these platforms and Lack of associates skilled in these technologies and high running cost results in the Legacy Conversion.

Why mainframe computer is called as legendary system?

The term that is commonly used is a 'Legacy System'. The term is mostly used by people who have grown up along with modern small computer systems and network servers. Frequently in a rather derogatory way. Many companies are slowly replacing the older mainframe based systems with client-server and similar systems. As new younger staff join the company the 'old' systems are the ones inherited from the older employees who are retiring. The old mainframe systems are thus inherited - they are part of the legacy from the past. Hence the term. In a few companies that went over to server based systems 20 or so years ago the term 'legacy system' is also being used to describe those old systems, so it is not exclusively used for mainframe systems.
