swimmers use the music much as it would be used in a dance routine. They perform various "moves" with their legs, arms and bodies in time with the music. The goal is to match the beat and style of the music, so the audience is "drawn in" to the routine and feels like they are a part of it too. The music often reflects the girls swimming to it.
