The usual nesting grounds for ants are in soil even though they will nest in wood areas and under flooring.

Fire ants can damage a tree by nesting in its roots and causing stress, but they typically do not directly kill a healthy tree.
Black ants and carpenter ants differ in size, color, and nesting habits. Black ants are typically smaller and black in color, while carpenter ants are larger and can be black, red, or a combination of both. Carpenter ants also have a more rounded thorax compared to the black ants. In terms of nesting habits, black ants usually build their nests in soil or under rocks, while carpenter ants prefer to nest in wood, where they can cause damage. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide pictures to illustrate these distinctions.

Yes, coffee grounds do repel ants, and it does not need to be used in order to do so. Insecticides are more efficient, however coffee grounds do work. Don't believe me though. Mix a glass of water with 3 tablespoons and mix a glass of coffee with 3 tablespoons of sugar. You'll see the ants will swarm the sugar water, but show no interest in your coffee with sugar.

Yes it does. I'm specifically investigating on sulfur to see if it affects ants at all. So i had to do some research and found out that coffee grounds deterred ants from their pheromone tracks. Since i'm studying specifically on sulfur, i found enough sites that prove coffee grounds have sulfur.
