there are the many sources by which genetic variation arises :-

firstly each n every organisms can reproduce their progeny beyond the availability of food n space.so this create a overcrowding surrounding.

second each n every progeny have opportuniy to get food ,space n mating at the corret time. so thisa competition for the organisms to get thiese thing . this is known as struggle for existence.

thirdly after the competition only few oraganisms passed and have to face the natural calamity for their survival and only those who is fittet were go to the next level . this is known as survival for the fittest or natural selection.

fourthly those who are passed were have some new traits in their body n now they reproduce their next progeny who have some unique and some new traits from their parents.

fifthly the progeny have to face all this problem

Which of the following is necessary for evolution to occur?

Genetic variation is necessary for evolution to occur, as it provides the raw material for natural selection to act upon. This variation can arise from mutations, genetic recombination, or gene flow.

What is the source of genetic variation in asexual reproduction?

Genetic variation in asexual reproduction can arise through mutations, which are random changes in the DNA sequence of an organism. These mutations can introduce new traits and diversity to the offspring, leading to genetic variation in a population. Additionally, genetic recombination can also occur in some forms of asexual reproduction, such as in organisms like bacteria, through processes like horizontal gene transfer.

Where do you expect genetic differences between cells to arise from mitosis or from meiosis?

That is a good question. In mitosis, you don't get regular genetic variation but chance mutations can occur. In meiosis with fertilization, you get pairing of DNA from different hosts on a regular basis. I would choose the latter.

In sexual reproduction an offspring is produced with genes from both parents When the offspring has a new genetic variation that it got from neither of its parents it is called an?

The offspring is called a "mutant" if it has a new genetic variation that it did not inherit from either parent. Mutations can arise spontaneously or be caused by environmental factors, and they contribute to genetic diversity within a population.

What is genetic variation in turtles?

Genetic variation in turtles refers to the differences in DNA sequences among individuals within a turtle population. This variation can arise from mutations, sexual reproduction, and environmental factors, contributing to diverse traits such as shell shape, color, and behavior. Genetic variation is crucial for the adaptability and survival of turtle species, as it enhances their ability to cope with changing environments and resist diseases. Conservation efforts often focus on maintaining this genetic diversity to ensure the long-term viability of turtle populations.

What is the term for the fact that individuals in a population are slightly different from each other?

The term for the slight differences among individuals in a population is "genetic variation." This variation is crucial for evolution and natural selection, as it provides the raw material for adaptation to changing environments. Genetic variation can arise from mutations, gene flow, and sexual reproduction, contributing to the diversity within a species.

What is the name given to the difference in characteristic between organism of the same species?

The difference in characteristics between organisms of the same species is called "genetic variation." This variation can arise from mutations, sexual reproduction, and environmental factors, leading to diversity in traits such as size, color, and behavior within the species. Genetic variation is essential for natural selection and the overall adaptability of populations.

What does genetic varation really mean?

since GENETIC is the compilation of DNA strands to form a gene that acts as a determinant to the growth pattern of an organism, that is the type of hereditary information the organism posses. and VARIATION is a change that exist between organisms..... thus; the word genetic variation is a change that exist between organisms of a particular specie as a result of change(s) that has occurred in their gene....

How else is variation produced besides from mutations?

Variation in a population can also arise through genetic recombination during sexual reproduction, where the combination of alleles from two parents creates new genetic combinations in offspring. Additionally, gene flow, or the transfer of genetic material between populations, can introduce new alleles and increase variation. Environmental factors can also lead to phenotypic variation, as organisms adapt to different conditions, resulting in diverse traits even among genetically similar individuals.

What word is used to describe the differences of a species?

The word used to describe the differences within a species is "variation." Variation refers to the genetic, phenotypic, or behavioral differences among individuals of the same species, which can arise due to genetic mutations, environmental factors, or sexual reproduction. These variations are essential for the process of natural selection and evolution.
