It does not matter what a Christian's vocation is they can still share in the ministry of Christ. In many of the rural areas of America a minister sometimes has to work to make a full living as the churches are small and cannot afford to pay a good wage. These ministers are called Bi-vocational ministers.

Many lay persons work their regular job and still have a full schedule in the ministry of Christ.

Answer:

All Christians are called to share in the ministry of reconciliation this was the ministry of Christ.

2Corinthians 5:18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,

The Bible says that by accepting the death of Christ as payment for our sin we can be reconciled to God.

2Corinthinas 5:19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

It doesn't matter what vocation you have.

Can you be a Christian and not be saved by God?

Aside from doctrine and dogma, the answer is in the name. Christians are the followers of Christ. The word literally means "Christ Like." The ministry of Christ as depicted in the New Testament literally states "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" From a Christian perspective, this is salvation, and the only way to "be a Christian" is to be saved.

Did nephi lead all christians into the promised land?

Nope, because there were no Christians. Nephi and his father Lehi lead two Israelite (Jewish) families to the promised land. "Christians" technically didn't exist until Jesus Christ began his ministry, when the Jews were split between those who believed Jesus was the Messiah (these became Christians) and those who did not (these remained Jews).
