Iron Clads
The fight between the first two iron clads. The monitor and some other ship... Those two faught for days on end, but their iron plated hulls proved verry strong and prevented both from sinking for quite some time.

During the 1800's wooden warships plated with iron were called "iron-clads." By 1904 during the Russo-Japanese War, Russian sailors still called their all steel built battleships "iron-clads."
