The falling coins are coins you randomly find while plowing. Usually they give you 100 coins.
When you plow using the tractor, you plow 4 cells of lot or 4 lots and it cost 15 coins per lot. So that's 60 coins when you plow using the tractor.

Well, that when you get your plow the coins only increase in value in the game. You see, due to inflationary rates in Farmville compared with the cost of living in blue collar United States the coins have no value AT ALL. It's a game remember...
when coins pop out of the ground, it means there is a leprechaun hiding under your farm with a pot of gold. if you find him, you get his pot of gold which can be anywhere between 50K and 1M coins. to find him you need to plow the area that the coin came from over and over again until you uncover him. to do this you must delete the same square and re-plow it until he comes out. then he will try to run away really fast off your screen so you have to click him before he leaves. then you get his gold.
You can't buy land... You can expand, but you need lots of money.... And the only way you can plow land is if you have enough room, and enough coins.
When You Plow, You Need 15 Coins Per Plot Plowed, so that costs money. When You Buy Seeds/Decorations/Anything Else, It Will Also Cost Coins.

To fallow/plow land, it costs 15 coins per square. You can also just leave the land un-plowed and it will not cost you anything. However, you won't be able to grow anything if you don't plow it.
