Reasons: The object cannot be reproduced (easily or in a 'short' period of time) , regenerated, or produced, by the time its consumption rate is down. Like if you can't get more right when you need more. (for a while.)

Example, fossil fuels are nonrenewable because they take thousands of years to form. -Yet we use them daily.
Wood, is renewable, because though it is burned and you can't use it again, the time span it takes to reproduce is a only a couple years.

Another one, I suppose, is uranium, as it is not found in vast quantities.

A nonrenewable resource is something that exists in limited supply and it cannot be replaced if it used up. It is also non-replenishable by natural means at the same rate it is consumed.
