Following are the two forms of cell division which takes place in somatic cells and reproductive cells.

Mitosis (Somatic cells, and reproductive cells)

Meiosis (only in reproductive cells)

There are two types of cell division in the living organisms one is Mitotic cell division which occur in the normal body cells of an organism which also replaces the old and worn out cells with new one nd the reproductive cells which come form Meiotic cell division occur only once in a life time for any organism.

How is meiosis similar to mitosis?

Both meiosis and mitosis are forms of cell reproduction. They both have a prophase and an anaphase. Both are forms of cell reproduction/Both are forms of nuclear division. Meiosis occurs in generative cells and mitosis in somatic cells.
