To minimise greenhouse gases we have to:

  1. Cut down our use of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), the burning of which emits carbon dioxide, man's biggest greenhouse gas. We burn fossil fuels in industry, transport and in the generation of electricity. So walk, cycle, carpool, bus and train rather than plane and private vehicle. Turn off lights and all devices at the wall when not in use.
  2. Plant and regrow huge forests to make up for the ones we have cut down. Vegetation, through photosynthesis, absorbs carbon dioxide and stores the carbon. Trees store carbon for hundreds of years in their roots, trunks, branches and leaves, so they take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.
  3. Methane is the other main greenhouse gas we can control. Cattle belch and decomposing animal waste often produce methane. If we all became vegetarian one day a week that would cut down the world's demand for red meat.

What does the greenhouse do to the gases from the atmosphere?

The greenhouse effect warms the gases in the atmosphere.

What has to reduce to solve the problem of global warming?

We have to reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide and methane, the greenhouse gases, into the atmosphere.

How can you reduce the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere?

Afforestation. The only way is to plant more trees.

Why will catalytic converters not help to solve the problem of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere?

because they do not help to reduce the amount of co2 in the atmosphere

What is the purpose of reducing greenhouse gases?

If we don't reduce the levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere the earth will get warmer and warmer. Greenhouse gases trap the sun's heat. Whenever we burn fossil fuels, that is, for transport or to produce electricity, we are adding more and more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This is what is causing global warming.

How do greenhouse gases affect the earths atmosphere?

They slow the loss of heat
