Despite this, Christians have always accepted that they need to keep those Jewish laws that command honouring and worshipping God, and the moral laws. These are the commands covered under Jesus' two commands: love God and love your neighbour (Matt. 22:37-40).
Some Christians still worship on Saturday (Seventh Day Adventists) but most Christians have worshipped on Sunday for a long time. This practice was recorded as already part of the regular practice in the missionary churches in Acts 20:7. The fact that these Christians worshipped on Sunday, rather than keeping the Sabbath, probably reflects the desire to show that non-Jewish Christians did not come under the obligations of the Jewish Law.
There is no law that requires Christians to worship on either Saturday or Sunday, although we are encouraged by the New Testament practice to regularly meet for worship.
In addition, some Christians are inclined to pass over the requirement to keep the Sabbath onto Sunday. If this transferred Sabbath Day observance is truly kept, this means more than just "going to Church," it also involves abstaining from work.
While Christians are not bound by this rule, it is a good practice to abstain from regular work on one day a week, as far as is practical. This gives us the opportunity to do something different on one day a week, and this helps us to avoid being too obsessed with work. A regular weekly break is good for us, and this idea is found strongly emphasised in the Genesis account of creation.
So, although we are not bound by the Jewish ritual laws, including Sabbath Day observance, we would do well to "keep the Sabbath" on whatever day is most convenient for us, and that "going to Church" is a good part of that practice.
