Change in volume - container getting bigger or smaller with same amount of air; Change in temperature - air gets hotter or colder causing it to expand or contract; Change in density - air is pumped into or out of a fixed container.
To cause a barometer to rise, high pressure and sinking air must dominate the atmosphere. High pressure occurs when air is sinking and compressing, leading to clear skies and generally fair weather conditions. This sinking air prevents the formation of clouds and causes the barometric pressure to rise.
Heat and Pressure
A barometer is a tool used to measure atmospheric pressure. Storms are preceded by a drop in atmospheric pressure. This change can cause joints to swell due to the decrease in pressure on them. This can be painful, especially in arthritic joints.
One of the earliest forecasting tools was the use of atmospheric pressure. Soon, after the invention of the barometer, it was found that there were natural fluctuations in air pressure even if the barometer was kept at the same elevation. During times of stormy weather the barometric pressure would tend to be lower.
Atmospheric pressure will typically not cause outdoor Christmas lights to explode. Atmospheric pressure in most areas is typically not high enough to cause such lights to explode.
uneven heating by the sun causes changes of atmospheric pressure, and winds blow from regions with high pressure to those with low pressure.
The cause is weight of the atmosphere.
Just as water pressure is caused by the weight of water, atmospheric pressure is caused by the weight of the air. Pg. 126 Conceptual Physical Science 4th Edition.
Gravity. Atmospheric pressure is the weight of a column of air. Of course, the temperature of that air changes it's density and therefore it's weight (i.e. pressure)
The weight of the liquid is, plus possibly the atmospheric pressure on the top surface of the liquid.
isobars are a measure of atmospheric pressure. variations in atmospheric pressure basically cause weather - high pressure vs low pressure, etc.
heat energy,moisture,oxygen,&nitrogen
The cause is the pressure difference between the gas pressure in the bottle and the atmospheric pressure.

Steam pressure pushes the piston up. Atmospheric Pressure pushes the piston down.
