Veteran's Day was originally named "Armistice Day", observing the end of WWI, when the Armistice was signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month ending WWI. Eventually, the holiday was renamed "Veterans' Day, in order to honor the sacrifice made by all veterans of all wars.
