seems you are a bit confused there,eh!

it seems that u mean uni-core-processor and multi-core-processor.

uni simply means 1 so its obvious it is a single core processor. (for eg. Pentium 4's)

multi means multiple, so its obvious it is a multiple cores processor. (for eg. core2duo has 2 cores, core2quad has 4 cores, phenom ii x6 110t has 6 cores and so on)

Difference between realtime and multiprocessor scheduling?

uniprocessor : - A type of architecture that is based on a single computing unit. All operations ( additions, multiplications, etc ) are done sequentally on the unit. . multiprocessor : - A type of architecture that is based on multiple computing units. Some of the operations ( not all, mind you ) are done in parallel and the results are joined afterwards.

Can busy waiting be avoided altogether?

No, a busy wait cannot probably be avoided altogether. In a uniprocessor system, one could inhibit interrupts during wait()andsignal()operations in semaphores, but that is not possible in multiprocessor systems. In fact, a busy wait (orspinlock), can be useful, especially in multiprocessor systems, when the wait is expected to be short (as withwait()andsignal()), because no context switch is required when a process must wait on the lock.

What are the devices which contain multiprocessor and multicomputers?

What does multiprocessor free and multiprocessor kernel mean in re to OS Build Type?

In the context of operating system build types, "multiprocessor free" refers to an operating system build that does not support multiprocessor systems. This means it is designed to run on single-processor systems only. On the other hand, "multiprocessor kernel" refers to an operating system build that supports multiprocessor systems, allowing for parallel processing and improved performance by utilizing multiple processors simultaneously. The inclusion of a multiprocessor kernel enables the operating system to take advantage of the capabilities offered by multiprocessor hardware configurations.

Why do you need multiprocessor environment?

for improving the efficiency of the computer system. In multiprocessor environment , instructions can be executed parallely.

What are example of multiprocessor system?

Multiprocessor systems have gained popularity over the years as they allow the user to do more than they could with a single processor system. Xbox 360, CELL, and Sequent are examples of multiprocessor systems.

Difference between distributed system and multiprocessor system?

The difference between distributed system and multiprocessor system is whether the processing units in the system share the main memory. If yes, then the system is multiprocessor system; otherwise, it's a distributed system.

How can a system with uniprocessor undertake multiprogramming?

Difference between uniprocessor and multiprocessor computer system?

Single-processor system has only one actual processor, while Multiprocessor system has more than one, both types of systems can have more than one core per processor. Multiple processors per system have long been used in systems that need a lot of processing power, like high traffic servers and when lots of computational power is needed. However these systems have been expensive and not needed by normal home or office users. In recent years it's become typical that one processor has 2, 3, 4 or even 8 cores. These multicore processors behave the same way as if you had multiple processors. One core can only do one task at a time. Multitasking is done by sharing the time of the processor between processes (program), one process runs for a short time, then another, then another or maybe the first one again. The switching is done so fast that the user wont know the difference. Multiple cores can run multiple processes at once for real. It depends on your software how well you computer can use the advantage of having multiple processors/cores, dividing the task to different processes.

What is haldll error?

Because different computer corresponding to different hal.dll file, but now the ghost systems are often false positives, leading to hal.dll file and the actual match. hal.dll file and the appropriate computer type: acpi multiprocessor pc halmacpi.dl_; acpi uniprocessor pc halaacpi.dl_; advanced configuration and power interface (acpi) pc halacpi.dl_; mps multiprocessor pc halmaps.dl_; mps unitprocessor pc halapic.dl_ standard pc hal.dl_; compaq systempro multiprcessor or 100% compatible halsp.dl_. The Device Manager can be computer-based project can be seen, or see hal.dll version information. If you can not enter because the system can not know what is that type. Can be tested one by one, which is what can start ^ _ ^
