Water borne infections
Nah, they aint the same. water related diseases could mean 'water-borne diseases' and/or 'water-based diseases' at the same time.Water-borne diseases refers to the diseases that are transmitted by water.E.g.: typhoid fever. i.e. without water, it is impossible for the pathogen responsible for the disease to spread and be transmitted. It may not necessarily be water based.Water-based diseases; E.g: Schistosomiasis. refers to the diseases that contain and/or are dissolved in water within their life-cycle. they don't need water to be transmitted.Waterborne pathogens are transmitted by the fecal-oral route and water-based pathogens spend all or parts of their life in the water.Source: Environmentally Transmitted Pathogens;Charles P.
