The leather containers used at the time to hold wine. They could not be reused as the gas pressure from fermentation the second time would burst them.

The point isn't the wine skins actually. It's old wine and new wine. New wine still has to ferment. Old wine doesn't. So, if you fully fill up a skin that has had fermented old wine in it with new un-fermented wine as the new wine ferments and produces gasses, it will burst the skin as it stretches.

How did Christianity develop from Judaism into powerful independent religion?

Christianity didn't really develop from Judaism. Jesus said you can't put new wine in old wine skins. Matthew 9:17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved." Here Jesus is saying to try to mix law and grace would be like putting new wine into old wineskins. The pressure caused by the fermentation of the new wine would burst the old skins because they had lost their elasticity. The life and liberty of the Gospel ruins the wineskins of ritualism. The writer of Hebrews also says that Christ is a "living way"; as opposed to the dead carcasses of slain beasts, and to the dead and killing letter of the law (Judaism). Christ gives life to all his people; and all that walk in him. Heb 10:20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,

What traditions did Christianity come out of and then shares the Ten Commandments with that faith?

You are thinking of Judaism. But Christianity did not really 'come out of' Judaism. Christianity is distinct from Judaism. Jesus warns His disciples about mixing the old and the new several times in the Gospels: Matthew 9:16 No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. Matthew 9:17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved." In the New Testament book of Hebrews the writer makes the point that Christianity is new not some extension of the old (Judaism): Hebrews 10:19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, Hebrews 10:20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,

What was the Christian religion?

Christianity developed from Judaism. It is built on the same holy book, the Torah, with additions making the Torah the Old Testament and additions the New Testament. After Jesus was born, many declared him to be God's Son and this evolved into Christianity.Answer:Christianity is not a development of Judaism. Jesus said this:Mark 2:22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins."The New Testament says this:Hebrews 10:19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,Hebrews 10:20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,Hebrews 10:21 and having a High Priest over the house of God,Christianity is based on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As the "lamb of God" he paid the penalty for sin and made it possible for people to have a new relationship with God.The relationship with God through Judaism was through blood sacrifice but Jesus......"after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God," - Hebrews 10:12

What did the Romans drink out of?

Pottery, metal, glass...the usual stuff that we use today. They had no plastic or aluminum, but the Romans were more modern than most people think. Also, wineskins were very popular at the time. Today, not so much.
