Armistice Day is not really celebrated it is just remembering those who left their lives to fight for the country. Veterans wear their medals. There are ceremonies at many National and local cemeteries.
In 1919 there was no veteran's day, only armistice day on the 11th of November. People did not celebrate it very much, other than remembering WWI. In 1954, our veteran's day was made, and was celebrated widely.
Franklin Roosevelt made Armistice Day a national holiday in 1938.
