General fears

1. Diabetes may lead to other health problems. -- the poor circulation in extremities sometimes leads to amputation of toes, feet, lower legs.

2. Diabetes increases risk for heart attack -- maybe due to poor circulation above.

3. Diabetes may contribute to poor vision leading to partial or total blindness in extreme situations.

4. Uncontrolled diabetes causes stress on the kidneys because the kidneys ar 'filtering' excess sugar from the blood which can lead to kidney failure and death.
