Somewhere in France.
it was set in England around the time of the late 13th century.
It takes place in an unnamed town in France.
The setting of the story--at least the Disney version, anyway--is in France. As for the actual fairytale, there are versions of it found in different cultures around the world.
It is set in France. That's why the names are French: Belle, Gaston, LeFou.
All I know is that the story and the beginning came from France. Hence the name, "Belle" or "Gaston" (if I spelled it right.) which are both french names. Just a little personal note, Beauty and the Beast is my favorite one of my two favorite Disney classics, Belle is my favorite princess. (Of course, my other favorite is the Lion King. :)
France is the traditional setting for Beauty and the Beast in fairy tales and movies. The opening song of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, "Bonjour", indicates that the Disney movie is also set in France as "bonjour" is the traditional greeting in France. Since it is a Disney movie and the characters speak English and not french, that is really the only indication that I could find of suggested location in the movie.
complete set with papers of authenticity and in mint condition value would be between $1000 to $1200
Belle, of Beauty and the Beast, briefly appears during the song "Out There." Both films are set in France, but in different eras.
The Disney movie version takes place somewhere in Provence, France
The song "Beauty and the Beast" from Disney's animated film is set in a 4/4 time signature. This common time signature features four beats per measure, giving the song a steady and flowing rhythm that complements its romantic and enchanting themes. The arrangement allows for expressive melodies and harmonies, enhancing the emotional impact of the lyrics.
Based on names of characters, settings, it appears to be set in France during the monarchical period, say the Valois or Bourbon dynasty. ( l700:s).
