Low-tier garb such as Leather-based armour (ranged), Wizards' robes (blue/black for magic) or Bronze or Iron armour (melee) from level one; your defence level plays a crucial part of what armours you can or cannot wear, though this can also vary as a result of range/magic levels as well. Some magic/range armour does require the magic/range level to be a certain level before you will be able to wear specific things -- example: Armadyl armour (not Rune God-trimmed).

If you were a pure and you were willing to get your strength up in a F2P place, i would recommend the barbarian safety dungeon level 2 flesh crawlers (level 35). Be sure to bring a good supply of food (salmon or tuna recommended) and if you had good a good defence level and good armor (adamant-rune) train at the level 44 zombies to the room south of the level 35 flesh crawlers.
