hard to say, are you talking from all avenues: album sales(8 track, cassette, cds, 45's and albums) as well as concerts, tee shirt sales, photos and so on?

some people think The Beatles became wealthy, but not true, not off of concerts and record sales. they were taxed 95% on all earnings, and only made about $10 million a year from 1964 to 1968, and after taxes on that 10 mill, they were only left with $400,000, and then their manager got 25% of that, leaving the beatles with $300,000 to split four ways. their manager back then ripped them off, they only got one penny for every 45 record sold, and remember these concerts were back in the early to mid 60's when tickets only cost $5.

from 68 till they broke up in 1970 they did better with a new manager and a new contract with better earnings on their sales, but when they broke up none of them were really very wealthy, except for paul, with john a close second because of all the songs they wrote or co-wrote.

the wealthiest was and still is paul, but not necessarily from his record sales, because he paid over 7 million dollars for a huge song catalog, which is now said to be valued at over $500 million and now brings in, in royalties, about $45 million a year.

paul probably made more money with wings than he did with the beatles.

top rock band on the money list, either the stones or u2, bring in over a 1/2 billion dollars a year on tour. (gross, not net $$)
