Adaptation (I'm studying the same thing ;)
Natural Selection.
the evolution of biological processesthe behavioral and adaptation strategies of living species: migration, physiological, morphological or genetic changesecosystem adaptation capacity.the exploitation, conservation andmanagement of natural resources.
The study of animals in their natural environment is called ethology. Ethologists observe animal behavior in the wild to understand their natural instincts, social interactions, and adaptation to their environment. By studying animals in their natural habitat, researchers can gain insights into their ecological role and evolutionary history.
Natural selection
Adaptation helps an organism survive and reproduce in its environment by allowing it to better suit the challenges it faces. Through the process of natural selection, organisms develop traits that enhance their chances of survival, such as camouflage, specialized feeding habits, or resistance to diseases. Adaptations can be physical, behavioral, or physiological.
No. For a dog to eat and drink and sleep is entirely natural behavior. Nothing "adaptive" about it. For a dog to eat from one particular bowl ONLY, and not sneak food from other places is a behavioral adaptation. For a dog to sleep on a designated blanket or sleeping pad is a behavioral adaptation. For a dog to want to go outside to urinate and defecate, rather than doing it on the living room rug, is a behavioral adaptation - because you slapped his nose for peeing on the carpet, and said "Good dog!" with cuddles when he went outside.
Sometimes this is called natural selection.
Evolution is the process by which organisms change over time as a result of heritable physical or behavioral traits. This change occurs through natural selection, genetic drift, mutations, and other mechanisms that lead to the adaptation of organisms to their environment.
By the process of natural selection and adaptation to a continuously changing environment.
Breeding can be considered a behavioral adaptation in animals, as it is a complex set of behaviors and actions that have evolved over time to ensure the survival and reproduction of the species. These behaviors can include courtship rituals, mate selection, and parental care, all of which contribute to successful breeding.
Fitness is "the degree of suitability for a particular environment. Genetic fitness is relative contribution by organisms of a particular genotype to the next generation". Adaptation is "An anatomical structure, physiological process, or behavioral trait that evolved by natural selection and improves an organism's ability to survive and leave descendants.
