2 Corinthians 6:14-15
You can find the verse "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers" in 2 Corinthians 6:14. It encourages believers to not form close partnerships or relationships with those who do not share their faith.
"Yoked" most likely means connected or joined together, often referring to two animals harnessed together to work in tandem. It can also be used metaphorically to describe a close partnership or relationship between individuals.
The perspective on this may vary based on individual beliefs and interpretations of religious teachings. However, some religious teachings may encourage individuals to seek reconciliation and harmony within a marriage, while others may permit divorce in cases of significant disharmony or distress. It is important to seek guidance from one's faith community or religious leader for a more specific understanding.
The Bible does not contain any direct quotes of Jesus speaking about Adam. However, Jesus' teachings and references to the creation account in the Hebrew Bible suggest that he would have been familiar with Adam as the first man created by God.
This clearly means that christians should not get married to non christians. The answer above refers to 2 Corinthians 6:14, where Paul writes "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers." Jesus refers to a "yoke" twice in Matthew's gospel, in successive verses: Matthew 11:29, 30 - Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yokeis easy and My burden is light. Literally speaking, a yoke is the device put on draft animals to pair them together and attach them to their load. Metaphorically, it symbolizes a burden one must bear. In a Greek lexicon definition of the word zugos(yoke), it says: # of troublesome laws imposed on one, esp. of the Mosaic law, hence the name is so transferred to the commands of Christ as to contrast them with the commands of the Pharisees which were a veritable 'yoke'; yet even Christ's commands must be submitted to, though easier to be kept (emphasis added) ----
Matthew 19:9 is a key scripture in the New Testament that addresses divorce. In this passage, Jesus states that divorce is permissible in cases of sexual immorality, but that remarriage after divorce is considered adultery.
Yoked with an Unbeliever was created in 1888.
The word "yoked" is in the King James Version of the Bible 1 time. It is in 1 verse, 2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Hi. The answer to the question is there is NO bible verse that say's that. There is a verse that say's we are not to be unequally yoked: Do Not Be Yoked With Unbelievers 14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? The meaning is that Christian's should not be married to a non Christian. No where does it say that we shouldn't be with others that don't share the love for our Savior because our lives are lived differently.God made all races and the statment above is wrong.Pastor Linda Conners
No. A true Christian will not become unequally yoked to an unbeliever. The Bible repeatedly warns against such practises.
The actual definition is "differently yoked". Reading AROUND the passage will give us the sense of the meaning. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18)Like so many, this illustration is based on agricultural life.If two animals of different size and strength become yoked together, both will suffer. Similarly, a 'believer' and an 'unbeliever', who are 'yoked together' by marriage, or close ties, will undoubtedly face friction and difficulties....their priorities in life will not match, and pain and discomfort will likely result. (1 Corinthians 15:33)
14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Thde Bible says that you are noty to be unequally yoked.
No. Evolution had not been developed as a concept back then. It does say not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers.
It is up to both of you. But the degree that a Catholic follows Bible prionciples may not be the same as the one that a Jehovah's Witness(J.W.) follows Bible principle. J.W. consider following God's word as their life. Thus they are advised to consider Bible principle, found in 2 Corinthian 6:14 "Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers" seriously. It's advised that a J.W. doesn't get married to an unbeliever. but there are cases where JWs marry outside. to "follow Bible principles" in the sense of what a J.W. believes or what she believes the Bible principles to be? remember that J.W.s believe in a lot of things which may for her seem to unnecessary. so she should be made aware of what the Bible principles are. Remember no holidays, birthdays and so on. and also too, if she has no intention of converting she should make it clear to her husband, as he will try to get her to start a Bible Study and so on. just make sure, that both of you are sure that this is what you really want.
I dont know much about the Muslim faith, but I do know that the Adventist church does not forbid us to marry other religions. However, the Bible does state that we should be equally yoked in our marriages, which basically means that it would make things a lot easier if you were both on the same page spiritually
