Yes and no. Baptists traditionally organize their churches as independent, or "autonomous", churches rather than part of a multi-church government. So that means that each church can decide for itself what rules and policies will be observed and followed. Because of this independence, many Baptist churches establish their own procedures for things like who can hire a pastor, who can be a deacon, etc... I will tell you that the large majority of Baptist churches will set up a committee of members to search for a pastor when a church is without one. The committee may or may not have people on the committee who are deacons, but the deacons will want to meet and OK the person that the search committee finds as a new pastor before he or she is hired. The role of the deacon with or without a pastor to lead the church is to be both a group of servants to the church and authoritative body alongside the pastor. Think of the pastor as the President, and the deacons as Congress, and you will get an idea of the relationship and shared responsibilities.
Um.... I think that's a lie.
Usually marriage counseling can be free of charge if you are a member of a church. Pastor's usually are trained in biblical counseling. If you are in a church where the pastor is a credentialed minister, this is a great resource for marriage or family counseling.
yesIMPROVED ANSWER:It would depend on what type of meeting is taking place. Growing up in the Methodist Church, we had various committees to oversee various things that went on in the function, structure, and construction of the church. The pastor (or preacher, as we called him) was not required to be at all the committee meetings, unless he was a member of that committee, or if he was invited to attend a meeting. An example would be, a pastor may be a member of the Finance Committee, which oversees the economy of the church. He would not attend the meeting of the Flower Committee (which was women who were in charge of setting a yearly calendar of women in the church to place flowers in the sanctuary for a particular Sunday Service, for only the women placed flowers in the church I attended at a child). The pastor would have no need to attend a meeting such as this, unless the ladies invited him to join the session.
nclude the name of the church, name of the church Pastor, city, state and ZIP code. Include a proper greeting such as: βDear Pastor Smith," or "Dear Church Search Committee."
In some cases, you simply have to know the pastor personally. But in most and more biblical cases, you have to serve at that church under the mentor-ship of the pastor. God Bless
In most mainstream denominations the congregation "owns" the church not the pastor. Some churches are created by one person who would "own" it, but in most cases the church is not owned by the pastor. I would be weary of a church where the pastor owns it. The when the denomination or congregation owns the church it provides checks and balances to avoid corruption and megalomania by a pastor or sole person running the church. If a person is a secondary worship leader and desires to be a senior pastor, then since most churches seeking a pastor have a "pulpit committee" that would help vet the candidates you would need to seek out churches that need a pastor and talk to the committee that is charges with finding the pastor. Each church has it's own set of requirements. My husband got out of seminary and got a church right away as a senior pastor and we have been at this one and only church for 22 years. Every congregation is unique and you will just have to contact each one like any other job you seek to have with resumes, recommendations etc.
I think he's a christian. He has three sibilings with biblical names, Elijah, Ethan and Micha and plus his own, Noah. And his dad is an executive pastor. Also he has been hanging out alot with Schyler Dixon, from American idol season 10 and 11 who herself is a Christian. But I'm not sure
